Time for Another Adventure – South of the Border!

On the road againnnnnn, I can’t wait to be on the road againnnnnnnnnn.

I can’t believe it’s been so long since my last adventure!  After a big move to Toronto and starting a new job, the first half of this year has been quite the whirl wind.  After finally getting settled after a few months in the big city, I knew I had to get back into travelling!

Since the weather is so beautiful and well let’s face it we are just about halfway through summer, I knew that I wanted to do something outdoorsy but also something that wasn’t too far from home and that was in budget.

After a frustrating search for available campsites to go to in Ontario that are within driving distance of Toronto (I can’t believe how quickly they book up!), we decided to set our sites elsewhere,  South of the border!  I didn’t realize just how close of a drive New York State is from Toronto.

There are two AH-mazing state parks both less than a 5 hour drive from downtown Toronto.  Also, surprisingly enough camping in New York State is cheaper (yes, even with the exchange!) than camping in Ontario (camping at Ontario park usually costs $44CDN/night).

First-up  Watkins Glen State Park.

This park is one of the finger lakes state parks.  It has some pretty amazing trails and waterfalls and is only about 4H17M drive from downtown Toronto.  Camping here is around $18USD a night plus a $9 out of state charge bringing the total to $27US/night or $35/CDN .

Second stop in our New York State camping trip is Letchworth State Park, also known as the “Grand Canyon of the East.”  This park is an even shorter drive from Toronto being only around 3H16M away.  Camping here costs $24US a night plus a $9US out of state charge so about $33US/night or $43CDN/night.  They also have some pretty amazing trails and waterfalls.

Counting down into single digits now, can’t wait!

Stay tuned!
